ArcelorMittal: With the goal of driving innovation, solving problems, and promoting the adoption of the Power Platform, we partnered with ArcelorMittal Tubarão to host a transformative Hackathon.

This event fostered a collaborative and inspiring environment where participants were able to quickly develop practical solutions to the organization’s challenges. Using tools such as Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI, employees prototyped applications, automated workflows, and created advanced dashboards within days, turning ideas into real solutions with immediate impact.

CBA: The Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBA) is a company that is part of the Votorantim S.A. holding. Established in 1955, it holds a leading position in the aluminum market in Brazil and is one of the most important players in the sector in Latin America.

THE CHALLENGE

The company’s extensive operational reach and numerous branches generate a large volume of projects that require continuous evaluation, investment allocation, and monitoring. This includes predictive projects, for which the company adopts the Front-End Loading (FEL) methodology, and adaptive projects, which use a hybrid methodology. In addition to mandatory agendas, the company is facing an increase in the volume of investments, requiring quick decision-making to meet new demands. In this scenario, additional Capex requirements arise that must be accommodated within the portfolio, leading to the postponement of less critical projects.

THE SOLUTION

In 2019, Teams Ideas was the platform chosen by CBA to support the automation of its Capex allocation management for projects. The system was adopted by the PMO, which is part of the General Management of Engineering and Technology (GGET) at CBA and provides matrix support to all areas of the company, from operational to administrative departments. The solution forms the foundation of the entire Capex process: proposals are registered, undergo an initial evaluation procedure, and scenarios for prioritization and selection are designed. They then proceed to the gatekeepers’ phase and final evaluation. Subsequently, the solution hosts the investment approval phase in CBA’s committee, and approved proposals are sent to Project Online. After development using the Teams Ideas PROJECT, the project is concluded, followed by the post-audit phase.

RESULTS

The adoption of Teams Ideas allowed CBA to unify its diverse projects in a single platform and automate the entire capital allocation process, ensuring agility from the moment a proposal is registered, especially when employees in the field identify the need for investments.

Marcopolo, recognized for its leadership in the bus manufacturing sector, sought to innovate and enhance its internal processes by organizing a Hackathon using Microsoft Copilot. The main goal was to empower its employees to explore and integrate artificial intelligence tools into their daily work routines, fostering creativity and efficiency.
